BTMA-What is jaw crusher and how does jaw crusher work?

Jaw crushers are generally define by their opening size. For example, a 400×600 mm crusher refers to a crusher with an inlet measuring 400 mm by 600 mm.The main parts and main technical parameters of a jaw crusher are presented below.

All jaw crushers feature two jaws: one of which is fixed while the other moves.

The working principle of jaw crushers is based on the reciprocating movement of the movable jaw that compresses and crushes the rock or ore between itself and the fixed jaw, as the material enters the zone between the jaws.

And the structurer of the jaw crusher is simple.

The moving jaw moves back and forward against the fixed jaw, and material fed from the top of the machine is compress between the two.

Breaking it into smaller pieces. As the moving jaw moves away from the fixed jaw, the crushed material is discharge from the crusher at the bottom, with the size of the ejected material determined by the gap between the jaws.

One of the most important parameters is the angle between the two jaws, which is refer to as the nip angle. The nip angle is the angle at which the material, that passes through the crusher inlet to be crushed between the jaws can be gripped by the jaws without slipping. This angle depends on the size, hardness and frangibility of the material.

It cannot be select as too large or too small. The nip angle in primary crushers is lower than in secondary crushers.

Generally, this value is between 18 and 24 degrees in primary jaw crushers. And between 22 and 28 degrees in secondary crushers. The nip angle can be 33 degrees maximum.
